Rachael Wilson

Welcome! My name is Rachael, and I tutor elementary and middle school math and science!

I graduated from Alabama A&M University where I earned a Master's of Education with a focus on special education. I am fully certified to teach grades 6-12 and to teach special education.

I began my teaching career as a paraprofessional for 2 years in a special education pre-k classroom while working on my undergradudate degree at the University of North Alabama. After I graduated with a degree in Independent Studies with a focus on early childhood development, I taught in a K-2 classroom at a small private special needs school that focused on creating a safe and thorough learning environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The following school year, I was contracted to manage a middle school self-contained classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For the last 5 years I have been teaching math and science in 5th and 6th grade classrooms at a private school in Huntsville. I have learned a great deal about how to simplify information and concepts for students, and as an individual with dyslexia, I bring a different perspective to education because of the struggles I often had as a student.

I have a lot of experience in special education and breaking difficult concepts down for students to facilitate their education. Even in a classroom with 20+ children, I take pride in adapting and tailoring lessons to help each child learn to the best of their ability. I would love the opportunity to help your child discover a love of learning. Thank you so much for your consideration!
